Neymar plans to emulate Messi by mentoring Mbappe

The relationship between Neymar and Kylian Mbappe continues to blossom, with the Brazilian looking to follow Lionel Messi's example in guiding the teenager.

The elder statesman of the two despite being just 25 years of age, Neymar plans to look after his young team-mate in much the same way Messi mentored him at Barcelona.

Asked if Mbappe was his new best friend, Neymar replied: "He is, indeed. He is a golden boy and he's been doing very well.

"He's a great player and has all the qualities to become one of the big names in football. I wish him all the best and I will help him in everything I can.

"Hopefully, I can do for him the same thing that Messi has done for me."

Red Star Belgrade v Arsenal

Red Star Belgrade have already played 10 games in this season’s EL, losing just once to away to Krasnodar. 5 of those games have been to nil and their impressive defensive record can also be seen in their home league where they have conceded just 2 goals in 12 games.

Arsenal are likely to treat this competition and match as an opportunity to give some reserve and bench players a run-out. Indeed, Arsenal have a tough away trip to Everton on Sunday lunchtime to think about.

After a poor start to the domestic season, Arsenal went on an unbeaten 7 game run, including their opening 2 games in the Europa League (EL), but lost on Saturday away to Watford (2-1).

Dortmund not expecting Reus exit

Borussia Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc is confident Marco Reus will commit his long-term future to the club.

The Germany international, who joined BVB from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012, is under contract at Signal Iduna Park until the end of the 2018-19 season.

However, Zorc remains confident Reus will not depart the Bundesliga leaders, telling Kicker: "We see Marco with us in the long run."

Reus is yet to make an appearance this season as he continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury sustained in last term's DFB-Pokal final.

Bacca: I played for the worst AC Milan in history

Carlos Bacca believes he was part of the worst AC Milan team in history but insists his time at the club was a personal success.

Bacca has pulled no punches in his assessment of the quality of Milan's squad during his two-year spell at San Siro but says helping them return to European competition shows his time in Serie A was successful.

"The past few years at Milan were satisfactory for me personally. I achieved my objective," he told W Radio in Colombia.

"Things could have gone better but you need help from the directors.

"I was at the worst Milan in history. After 30 years, president Silvio Berlusconi wanted to sell the club. We had different ideas with the coach and the new owners, but I left with my head held high because Milan are in Europe and I gave my contribution.

"I'm pleased Milan returned to Europe. That was my goal when I left Sevilla."

Azpilicueta admits to low mood in Chelsea camp

Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has admitted to morale being low within the Chelsea squad following a recent poor run of form.

Azpilicueta knows the importance of Saturday's game following their recent winless streak.

"The reality is we have gone three games without a win and we will try to get back to winning ways on Saturday," he said.

"It is true we are not in our best moment. We came into the game after two consecutive defeats in the Premier League."

Chelsea go into Saturday's clash against the Hornets with a slew of injuries. David Luiz was substituted at home to Roma with a calf problem and Conte revealed that off-season signing Tiemoue Bakayoko is suffering from pain in his groin.

Brighton boss Hughton feels ´unacceptable´ behaviour remains in football

Brighton and Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton feels there is still an "unacceptable" level of offensive behaviour in football despite significant improvements in recent years.

Hughton, who became the first mixed-race player to represent the Republic of Ireland, says there is a "better environment" in football today but still believes there are steps forward to be taken.

"We are all very aware at this particular moment of what does cross the line, certainly anything that is deemed offensive to any individual," he told a news conference on Thursday.

"It's not just about what's offensive to the changing room. If there is something said that's offensive to one particular individual, it's crossing the line.

"What we have in the game at the moment is certainly a better environment than there used to be, but there are areas that are still very much unacceptable.

"In our workplace at the moment, I think we are very aware of what's acceptable and what's not acceptable."

BATE Borisov v FC Koln

Bate are currently in good domestic form and are 3rd in the league, just 2 points behind league leaders Salihorst. In the last 6 league games they have won 18 points with a goal ratio of 18:1 and have now scored at least 1 goal in 9 consecutive matches.

During the ‘12/13 campaign, Bate surprised Europe when they defeated the eventual champions Bayern Munich 2-1 in Belarus. This game is included in their overall positive record against German teams which stands at W3, D1 and L2.

FC Koln have lost 4 of the last 5 games by a margin of just a single goal. However, the team went into half-time in each of these games trailing 0-1.

FC Astana v Maccabi Tel Aviv

Astana’s record against Israeli opposition is W2, D0, L0, with those 2 wins coming against Hapoel Tel Aviv in the 2nd qualifying round of the 2016/17 Champions League.

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s best European performance was when they reached the last-16 in the 2013-14 Europa League.

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s record against Kazakhstani opposition is W1, D1, L0. They prevailed over FC Kairat in the 2nd qualifying round of the 2016-17 EL.

Astana are currently unbeaten in 16 European matches at home, which is a new record for a Kazakhstani team.
